MUGA pitch installation company are a fantastic space saving solution for schools and sports centres, as they can be used by a number of different sports, rather than having a separate area for each sport. This can save valuable school playing field space, as well as the associated costs of installing fencing and surfacing. This allows you to maximise your PE and Sports Premium investment whilst still providing a great facility for students to enjoy their chosen sport in the outdoors.
Depending on the type of sport you want to play on your MUGA pitch, it will determine what surfacing is best for you. There are a variety of finishes available including polymeric, tarmac and synthetic turf with different shock absorbency capabilities. We’ll advise you on the best surface for your multisport pitch based on your preferred sport and additional uses.
Reviving Your Sports Facilities: MUGA Pitch Resurfacing and Maintenance Tips
We can install either sand-filled, sand-dressed or needle-punch synthetic grass for your MUGA surface. 2G surfaces are short pile, dense sand-based synthetic sports surfaces that have a pile height of 24mm or less. These are ideal for hockey and 5-a-side football.
Alternatively, a 3G surface is a longer pile, of specialist infill sand that provides a high level of performance and traction. It’s ideal for rugby and football as the sand improves the natural qualities of the ball, making it more durable and harder to break or tear. The permeable nature of these surfaces also makes them good for all weather, as they can drain quickly and are resistant to flooding or becoming waterlogged.
