Bund Lining Systems

Bund Lining Systems

Many Bund Lining Systems have on site fuel / chemical storage facilities that are usually protected by a brick / concrete bund to offer containment in the event of any spillage. These structures are required by legislation to have a liner fitted within them in order to prevent ground water pollution should the structure fail or experience a sudden leakage. Resitech can offer a range of specifically designed systems to allow clients to comply with current legislation and have their existing bunds lined, ensuring the required levels of containment are maintained.

The choice of lining material and system build-up for the primary and secondary containment areas will depend on the nature of the chemicals or materials that will be stored within them. In addition, if the bunds will be trafficked by pedestrians and vehicles, then a suitable slip resistant finish will also be required.

Guardians of Containment: Exploring the Essentials of Bund Lining Systems

Solvent-free epoxy resin coatings are a popular option for many bunded tank and secondary containment area lining projects. These systems can be used for a wide variety of different chemicals and materials. They are typically suited for use in areas that will be exposed to moderate to medium demands and requirements, such as for lining sewage and waste water tanks or for a number of industrial and other production area flooring applications.

Some specialist epoxy based systems, for example, Sika Cor VE (based on vinyl ester resins) have been specifically developed for high acid resistance and are often employed as a bund lining system in several different industries and environments, such as chemical processing and petrochemical, oil and gas, water, power, nuclear and cooling tower areas.
