Most bowhunting in africa is done from ground blinds or tree stands situated strategically over watering holes and game trails. Some areas also offer walk and stalk hunting, which can be more thrilling than sitting in a blind; however, the success rate may not be as high as when using a blind.

You will need a well-tuned and properly strung bow for hunting in Africa. It is recommended that the bow should be of a compound, recurve or longbow construction. The draw weight should be between 50lbs and 70lbs (for antelope) or more for bigger game such as buffalo and elephant. The bow should be capable of storing at least six arrows in a quiver.
